leadership through athleticS program

As part of our commitment to long-term development in sports, school, and beyond, we are excited to introduce the Leadership Through Athletics Program this summer as part of our summer camps lineup! The Leadership Through Athletics Program will be offered at our De La Salle College summer camp location throughout July and August.

The Leadership Through Athletics Program is a comprehensive two-week summer leadership program designed for Grade 9 & 10 students who are interested in building work experience and leadership skills in an immersive and enthusiastic sports camp environment. Leaders-in-Training, or LIT’s, will take on a variety of projects each week including curriculum development, session planning, camper safety, and conflict resolution, as well as supervising summer camp groups of children ages 4-12 (with adult supervision). For a portion of each day, LIT’s will be assigned volunteer positions and will assist our Camp Staff in leading activities with younger campers between ages 4-8.

The Leadership Through Athletics Program is designed to prepare young athletes to learn and thrive in leadership positions, equipping them with necessary life skills like communication, teamwork, providing and receiving feedback, and public speaking.

Daily Schedule
A typical day in the Leadership Program runs from 8:30am-4:30pm, with a free-time break each day from 12pm-1pm where LIT’s will be permitted to leave campus for lunch. During the first portion of the session, LIT’s will attend classroom sessions and seminars focused on theoretical scenarios and problem-solving, while the later portion of the week will be focused on applying those learnings in real-world camp environments. For the final project of each week, LIT’s will be charged with creating and leading our Friday Colours Wars event, a camp-wide competition to crown the team of the week.

Eligible Ages
All students ages 14 & 15 (must be turning 14 as of Dec. 31st, 2025)

Community Service Eligibility
LIT’s may be eligible for community service hours as a result of their volunteer work during this program. LIT’s must get written approval from their school’s principal or guidance counsellor prior to participation in the Leadership Program. It is up to the discretion of the student’s school whether this program is eligible for volunteer hours, not the discretion of TOP Sports Camps.
